The Ownership Initiative is a nationally recognized, black-owned impact advisory firm headquartered in Detroit, Michigan that advises on housing and small business strategies to create opportunities for underserved populations and economically challenged communities. In 2006, we began creating sustainable impact by offering our core service model of designing housing programs and strategies for communities in the state of Michigan. Then, in 2010, we began to expand our housing services to other

Often described as passionate about the modern banking environment, Krysta Pate has over two decades of leadership in the housing and finance industry. She holds a bachelor’s degree
from Central Michigan University in Public Administration and is a Development Finance Certified Professional with the Council of Development Finance Agencies.
Krysta possesses an expert level understanding of the regulatory framework and policy issues that surround urban communities. She is well respected nationally and has an
extensive circle of influence that includes working relationships with senior leadership and executives from all levels of government, banks, and community organizations.
Krysta currently serves as Vice Chair of the Michigan State Land Bank (2nd Term), is a recipient of the Crain’s Business Detroit Notable Real Estate Executive award for 2021 and the 40 Under 40 Award for 2018. Over her career, Krysta has earned features from CNBC, NPR, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. She has also served as a panelist for the FDIC, Fannie Mae, The Federal Reserve (Chicago & St. Louis), OCC, Center for Community Progress, Zillow, The Appraisal Institute, The Kresge Foundation, and many other prestigious community-minded organizations across the nation.
